Three Havens from a Chris-Craft

What you are looking at are the homes and cottages of Lake Carlos' Three Havens Drive. I recorded the video in July of 2010 aboard a classic Chris-Craft captained by my friend, Bruce Olson (the Executive Director of the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum).

There aren't any Three Havens Drive active listings but if you like Lake Carlos, or good deals for that matter, check out this home located on the west side of the lake. It has a few steps to the shoreline but hey, if it didn't, it wouldn't be under $300,000.

Land on the East Side of Lake Ida

If a bare lot with 100 plus feet of lakeshore on Lake Ida at a price below $150,000 interests you, check out MLS 10-7690. The owner reduced the price yesterday by $19,500.

Sale at Water Lilly Trail on Lake Ida

A home on the west side of Lake Ida was tagged as a pending sale in Alexandria's MLS. The walk-out rambler was listed for sale in July of 2010 at $259,000.

Housing Inventory Down

Yesterday The Wall Street Journal reported a positive sign for the housing sector. There were fewer homes listed for sale at the end of 2011 than in any of the previous four years. This was also the case in Alexandria's MLS for homes with or without lakeshore. Lower inventories are good as fewer properties for sale means less to choose from for buyers and this is good for sellers. As Martha Stewart would say, "this is a good thing".

Recent Lake Home Sales

In the past few days a three bedroom, one bathroom cottage at Lake Amelia with 50 feet of lakeshore and priced around $180,000 went under contract as did a three bedroom, three bathroom year round home with 103 feet of frontage on Lake Victoria listed at $249,900.

Good News for Fishing on The Chain of Lakes

Stocking Lake Le Homme Dieu over the last five years has been project of the Viking Sportsment stocking committee and on December 26th they installed 765 pounds of walleye fingerlings [source: Echo Press]. They put the fingerlings, and 12-13 inch walleyes, in three locations: Le Homme Dieu Beach, Rotary Beach and the public access at the northeast end of the lake by Krueger's Creek. The original plan was for five years total but the committee stock for an additional sixth year because of public support.

Latoka Home Listed Close to 1 Million Has Sold

A lake home on the east side of Lake Latoka that was listed for sale in Alexandria's MLS in late July of 2011 with an ask price north of $900,000, has an accepted Purchase Agreement without contigencies. Not a bad way for our real estate market to ring in the new year.
