Facts About Carlos State Park

• 404 acres acquired in 1937 for $8,713
• in 1958, members of the Lake Region Saddle Club created the Lake Carlos State Park Expansion Committee
• the Committee organized the Horseman's Holiday(an event that first had 235 horses and then grew rapidly) to bring attention to the State Park and raise money for it's expansion
• Paul Harvey broadcast from the event in 1962 and over 800 riders attended
• in the  1960's, 760 acres were added primarily because of the efforts of Vernard Trenne, John McCarten and George Buscher
