- Lake Le Homme Dieu (means 'man of God' in French and the proper spelling is L'homme Dieu with a pronunciation of "lumm due" but the majority of locals pronounce it "la homma due") is located on the northern edge of Alexandria and covers an area of 1,744 acres with a maximum depth of 85 feet and 9.5 feet of water clarity.
- A popular lake that connects to Lake Carlos and Lake Geneva on the Chain of Lakes (link: aerial photo).
- A public swimming beach (Le Homme Dieu Beach) on the southeast corner has lifeguards available during the summer months. There is also an unofficial swimming area (Rotary Beach) at the west side with no lifeguard on duty.
- "Lake Le Homme Dieu is one of the most beautiful sheets of water in America" stated a National Geographic Magazine article. The northeastern shore area, called Interlachen Park, was named after Interlaken, Switzerland, which means 'between the lakes'. Le homme Dieu and Carlos were most likely named by Glendy King, an early homesteader in the area after friends of his at West Point Academy.
